THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY

At The Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened, we learn with the kids from the Secret Benedict Society about the Whisperer. What is the Whisperer? What is its purpose? How does it work? Why does it make the messengers feel so good about themselves when they sit in it and put the helmet on their heads? What do you think of such a device?

The Whisperer is a sinister device that can brain sweep and become the most comforting machine in all of humanity. When Reynie and Sticky experienced it as messengers the urge of temptation haunted them day and night to get another session with the Whisperer. The reason why is because it has an illusion that makes your fears seem to go away. Which is definitely very comforting. When messengers sit in the chair and the blue helmet over their heads all their fears just seem to wash away. I don't think this is a good device because it just hides your fears. In life there is always a next fear after the one that passed so it really isn't useful to Mr. Curtain except in the sake of brain sweeping which is pure evil to take one's memories away.

The Whisperer is a machine designed by Ledroptha Curtain that I think sort of uses telepathy to calm your fears by "whispering" in your ear. Two people sit in chairs with helmets on them. The person in the red helmet yells something and the whisperer asks you something gently. You answer and it either takes your answer or not. For example, "What's your name?" " S-S-Sticky Washington." It wouldn't take that because it's not Sticky's given name. It makes them feel good because it hides their fears. Brianne, that is totally what I was going to say. Your fears never go away unless you confront them. And plus you feel really weak and drowsy when you get out.

The Whisperer looks like a simple machine that you sit it. It has armrests and helmet. The purpose of the Whisperer is to record thoughts and broadcast them later over TVs and radios. It works by a computer that's controlled by Mr. Curtain. It makes the messengers feel good by asking them what their worst fear is and comforting them by telling them they're not alone. The Whisperer is not a good device because it seems more like brain washing. It tells you what to believe instead of having your own thoughts.

I don't think it seems like brain washing.

Yes, brain washing would mean you wouldn't remember anything, like Milligan, but you still would be controlled...

I agree with Justin and Amanda because It's not really brainwashing. Brainwashing is when you don't remember a single thing that just happened. Brain sweeping is when you choose what parts you can take away from a person's memory. I think t might be brain sweeping your talking about.

Why not, Amanda?

The whisperer is a high-tech device that is run by Mr. Curtains computers used for either brainsweeping or recording messages to power "the Improvment". I think they feel good because it calmes their fears which is very powerful. I like the part about calming fears but not the rest.

You forgot to answer a few questions. Anyway, I forgot something, too.( Forgetful minds think alike, huh?) Do those messages really power the Improvement?

The Whisperer is a machine that uses kid's thoughts as a filter to help creep into peoples heads and make them belive things. It makes people feel so good when they sit in it because it makes people forget their fears.

P.S. My response to that last question is also a response to Briannes post.
