THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY

Kate’s willingness to break into The Whispering Gallery alone to dismantle the computer demonstrates her commitment and bravery. Why do you think Reynie allowed her to take such dangerous steps? How did Constance show her loyalty? And speaking of Constance . . . what did you think about that little piece of information about her at the end?

I think Reynie let Kate do it to show Kate she cannot always do things alone. Constance showed her loyalty by resisting the Whisperer's temptations. I sometimes think I can do everything by myself but sometimes it takes another person to complete the assignment or in the Mysterious Benedict Society's case, complete the mission and save the world from the Improvement. No wonder Constance was so cranky. She was a two year old who didn't get nap time! I was very surprised to realize that Constanc was two years old. I would have never thought of it before. This book is one of the best books I have ever read and I hope we read another one as good as this.

I don't know about the best book ever, but it was really good, especially the end!

I think Reynie allowed her to take those dangerous steps because he realized that Kate is a very independent person and she is much faster and sneakier than everyone else so she would probably have the best chance of escaping. Constance showed her loyalty by using her extreme stubbornness to disable the Whisperer. I think she did that because she had been quite a grump but she really cared about them, only she's a two year old who has to stay up until ten. That was a surprise that she was only two because I thought she was only a little younger than the rest--like maybe eight or nine--but really short. I was wrong!

I think Reynie allowed Kate to take the dangerous steps because Reynie liked the Whisperer and he wanted Kate to be caught and he knew she wouldn't be able to do it. But when she left he changed his mind and he wanted to help her. Constance showed her loyalty by taking Reynie's place later in the book when he tried to overcome the Whisperer. She was able to fight off the Whisperer's thoughts for a long time because she was so stubborn. I was amazed that Constance was going to be three years old in a month because if you're only three you're not that mature and definitely not that smart. I think she was that smart because she lived in a library and kept looking at books. I was also shocked at who Kate's father was.

I think Reynie aIIowed her to do that because she needed to have a big part in taking down the Whisperer. I was surprised that Constance could talk that much when she is like 2 years oId!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amar, why would Constance talk at all if she's turning two? She would have to be really smart! (Not like she isn't)

I think Reynie allowed Kate to try to break into the Whispering Gallery alone because they had a plan. The plan was for Kate to hide near the Whispering Gallery, and when Reynie and Sticky needed help they'd signal her. Then, she'd come to help overpower Mr. Curtain and destroy the Whisperer. Constance showed her loyalty by distracting the Whisperer so Milligan could destroy the Whisperer. When I found out that Constance was only two years old, I was amazed! I never thought a two-year-old could have such a great vocabulary. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.
